Record Breaker

We couldn't believe our eyes when we woke up to MORE snow this morning. It was a record breaking day in Dallas, Tx.
12.5 inches of snow!!!
It was peaceful and beautiful! Billy and Porter started the day off by checking out the powdery fun and we enjoyed our snow white view all day long. We also went on a snowman hunt and Porter loved shouting "Frosty" every time we saw a new snowman. We took pictures of all the snowmen in our neighborhood but only posted our favorite (below). We ended the day by making homemade snow ice cream and it came as no surprise that Porter gave it a thumbs up!
Snow, we hate to see you go, but it was fun while it lasted!

Texas Snow

Texas snow is the best, isn't it? It's always a welcomed event and everyone gets so excited that it's contagious! :)
This morning, we woke up to this:
(our 4th snow of the season!!!)

Porter was super excited and couldn't wait to build "Frosty". Now, I realize our Frosty isn't the coolest, but what do you expect with a 2 year old helping out? :) Ha!
We have had a wonderful day out in the snow. We made heart shaped pancakes and got warmed up before we started our day. We said good-bye to Daddy, put on tons of clothes, and then ran out to work on Frosty! After our snowman was dressed and ready to go, we jumped in the car to go check out a new preschool for next year (yikes!) and then went to the library for story time (our weekly event). We lucked out because only one other mom braved the snow so we had front row seats. Today's theme was Valentine's Day and it was precious!
Then, we decided to have a car picnic and get a penguin happy meal from McDonalds and go to a park to watch it snow some more! What a great day!
Hope everyone else is enjoying the goodness.......

HEY Y'ALL....

Did you know Porter is a REAL cowboy now?
A few weeks ago, we made a fun, spontaneous trip to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo with Annie and Sutton. It was a GORGEOUS sunny day and Porter walked at least 2 miles in his new cowboy boots (thank you Dee)!
We got to do SO many fun things and I am so glad we made the trip. It was a perfect activity for a busy toddler who LOVES anything related to farms and tractors!
We went to a petting zoo and got to feed the animals food from an ice cream cone. Porter thought it was hilarious that the llamas ate the cone when the food was gone!
We also got to see the John Deere tractor and Kubota exhibits and, well.....ENOUGH SAID!
And, the icing on the cake, I must say, was watching Porter and Sutton ride the horses. I was smiling so hard my cheeks hurt! :)
Enjoy!!!

Rock Star in the making?

The older Porter gets, the more he LOVES music. He loves to listen to music, sing a million different songs, and he loves to play instruments. He BEGS to listen to the radio, CDs and Billy's singing. His favorite Saturday activity is going upstairs to the music room and he and Daddy "play" together. :) I snuck up on them this morning and found a precious sight.(What you don't hear in the video is that he really knows EVERY SINGLE WORD to the songs! It is hilarious!) I am so happy they enjoy the same things and I know it will continue to grow as Porter gets older!
Also, thankfully I found a music class for us that started last week and it was a HIT! Porter was the star of the show and jumped right in the middle of the class to participate. It is going to be a fun class for sure!

Roomies Reunite!

A few weeks ago, we had some very special visitors! Billy's old roommate from college, Matt Thigpen and his sweet family, drove in from Wharton, Tx and they got to spend the whole weekend with us! Matt and his wife Amy have two children, Madison (10) and Connor (14 months). The kids had a GREAT time playing together and the Daddies had fun reminiscing too!

Thigpens, we hope you will come back very soon! Let's not wait so long for the next visit!

p.s. I am WAY behind on blogging, but I am committed to catching up! We have had an eventful 2010 already! From starting potty training, to moving Porter to a queen-size bed, to saying bye-bye to the paci....we are busy folks around here! :) More to come.....
